Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has generously contributed N20 million to the Faith Foundation Mission Hospital in Enugu State for the establishment of a College of Nursing Sciences. This announcement was made through his social media account on Monday, November 13.
In his statement, the former governor of Anambra State underscored his unwavering dedication to investing in critical sectors of national progress, specifically focusing on healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation. His message was as follows:
“During my recent visit to Nsukka in Enugu State over the weekend, I had the privilege of extending a N20 million donation to the Faith Foundation Mission Hospital, Nsukka. This donation aligns with my steadfast commitment to bolstering essential areas of our national development, namely healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation.
This financial support represents the initial phase of my collaboration with the hospital, facilitated through the Anglican Bishop of Nsukka, Rt Rev. Aloysius Agbo. The funds will play a vital role in kick-starting the construction of a College of Nursing Sciences.
Healthcare professionals serve as the cornerstone of primary healthcare delivery, forming the bedrock of a credible healthcare system. Given the current shortage of healthcare professionals not only in our nation but worldwide, it becomes imperative that we place a heightened emphasis on healthcare worker training.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Bishop and the dedicated team at Faith Foundation Hospital for their visionary decision to establish a College of Nursing Sciences.
