Nigerian Bodybuilder Fatally Shot by Wife in Texas Home Tragedy

A tragic incident unfolded in Houston, Texas, where a Nigerian bodybuilder, Michael Chidozie, passed away after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds inflicted by his wife during a heated disagreement.

The 26-year-old lost his life last week following the harrowing incident on March 21, 2024, when his wife, Keaiirra Shavoiyae Chidozie, 28, shot him four times in front of their young children at their residence. Rushed to Ben Taub Hospital, Chidozie fought for his life on life support, but succumbed to complications arising from a severe spinal injury 18 days later.

The heart-wrenching event unfolded as police discovered Chidozie with gunshot wounds and his wife, clutching their two children in distress. Keaiirra faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, initially laid after the shooting, which have not been upgraded following her husband’s tragic demise.

She maintains self-defense as her explanation, citing fear for her safety during the altercation that led to her husband’s fatal injuries. Details about the nature of the argument remain unclear, although it reportedly began elsewhere in the house before escalating in the bedroom, where the fatal shots were fired.

Chidozie sustained gunshot wounds to his arm, chest, and torso, leaving him to tragically perish on the bedroom floor. Keaiirra, released on bail, awaits her next court appearance scheduled for May 23, while their children receive care from other family members.
