Dr. Alex Otti Sets To Flag off Umuopara Ring Road

Dr. Alex Otti is set to flag off the reconstruction of the Umuopara Ring Road, a project long overdue and repeatedly promised by successive governments since 1999. Former administrations, including those of Orji Uzor Kalu (PDP) and Vincent Ogbulafor (NPP), campaigned in Umuopara with pledges to reconstruct the road but failed to deliver.

During his tenure as NDDC Chairman, Dr. Onyema Ugochukwu also vowed to construct the road as a token of appreciation to Oparaukwu 2, the only traditional ruler from Abia State who accompanied him to Aso Rock to thank the then President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. However, this promise also remained unfulfilled.

Another effort was made under the administration of Dr. T.A. Orji, who flagged off the project from the Ehume end. Unfortunately, it stalled and later became a mere political talking point during the tenure of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, with no meaningful progress recorded.

The planned reconstruction of this critical road by the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, signifies a turning point. It adds to the list of roads being constructed and rehabilitated under his administration, authenticating his commitment to infrastructure development.

Once completed, the Umuopara Ring Road will unlock massive economic potential, improve connectivity, and enhance the livelihoods of rural dwellers and farmers in Umuopara and Umuahia South.

The people of Umuopara, who gave Governor Alex Otti overwhelming support during his election, will be deeply appreciative of this long-awaited development. This project will undoubtedly stand as a testament to the governor’s dedication to fulfilling campaign promises and driving sustainable development in Abia State.
