Honorable Destiny Nwagwu, the elected representative for Aba North State Constituency in the 2023 General Election, asserted that the recent Supreme Court judgment, which upheld Governor Alex Otti’s election, also validated his own victory. Speaking to reporters in Aba on Tuesday, Nwagwu maintained his position as the legislator for Aba North State Constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly.
Expressing bewilderment, Nwagwu questioned the PDP’s reaction to the Court of Appeal judgment in Plateau state that ousted 11 of their members. He criticized them for pressuring the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly to swear in their member, calling it hypocrisy. Quoting the adage, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” Nwagwu emphasized the importance of fairness.
Despite the prior Court of Appeal ruling that ousted him and affirmed Hon. Aaron Uzodike as the legitimate winner due to Nwagwu’s alleged lack of proper nomination and sponsorship by the Labor Party, Nwagwu remained resolute. He vowed to resume legislative sittings in a few days, confident in the Supreme Court’s verdict that reinforced his electoral triumph.
