Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, expresses contentment with the advancements on the Port Harcourt Road project led by Julius Berger.
Governor Otti also expresses approval for the progress made on additional road projects in Aba, assuring that some will be officially opened before the onset of the rainy season.
During a weekend address to enthusiastic residents gathered for a road inspection covering Port Harcourt Road, Old Court Road, Ndoki Road, and Omuma Road, Governor Otti reveals his confidence in Julius Berger’s commitment to completing the crucial Port Harcourt Road by December 2024.
In reference to Omuma Road, the Governor announces plans for its dualization, connecting Old Express Road, Cemetery, and Osusu roads once the electricity line relocation is finalized.
Governor Otti urges Aba residents to collaborate with contractors, emphasizing the importance of timely project completion. He also emphasizes the need for good sanitary practices among residents.
“We assure you that these roads will be commissioned very soon. The contractor has praised your kindness in providing them with water, drinks, and even cooking for them. Cooperation with the government will be reciprocated,” the Governor assures the crowd.
Addressing littering concerns, Governor Otti appeals to residents, saying, “As we complete these roads, we won’t tolerate litter. Bins will be provided, and we’ll collect litter twice a day.”
Regarding Ndoki Road, the Governor promises completion before year-end, highlighting the transformation anticipated before the upcoming rainy season. The project, managed by the Abia State Ministry of Works, is expected to extend to the Good Morning Market, Old Court Road, and connecting streets.
Governor Otti, accompanied by Commissioner for Works, Engr. Otumchere Oti, ensures the alignment of technical details with designs during the inspection. The Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Uko, conveys the Governor’s commitment to progress.
