In Umuahia, Abia, a collaborative operation conducted by the NDLEA and the State Homeland Security on February 14th, resulted in the apprehension of Adaobi Nweke, a 36-year-old female lawyer; her 36-year-old boyfriend, Emeka Nkemefola; her 65-year-old mother, Mrs. Ngozi Nweke; Dike Okpara, a 43-year-old herbalist; Chukwudi Abel, a 33-year-old family member; Amarachi Paul, an 18-year-old family member; and their 22-year-old salesgirl, Blessing Jonathan at 23 Arochukwu street.
Investigations disclosed the family’s involvement in the illegal drug trade, inherited from their deceased father, Jonathan Nweke.
Seized during the operation were varying quantities of Cocaine, Heroin, Methamphetamine, Loud, Cannabis Sativa, and precursor chemicals, totaling 1.670kg, along with a monetary exhibit of N578,400.
The NDLEA played a crucial role in the arrests and subsequent findings.
