Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, visited victims of a tragic motor accident at the Waterside Bridge, Ogbor Hill Aba, expressing deep concern over the incident. He assured a thorough investigation into the immediate and remote causes of the accident.
During his hospital visits in Aba, the Governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, emphasized the unfortunate nature of the accident and pledged measures to prevent future occurrences. One key initiative is restricting heavy-duty trucks to night-time travel.
“The sanctity of life is crucial to me; every Abian matters,” said the Governor. He reassured the victims that the government would cover their medical expenses and ensure top-notch care, especially for those requiring surgery.
“We have communicated to all the hospitals and Chief Medical Directors where we visited,” he added, highlighting the government’s commitment to easing the financial burden on the victims.
The Governor also addressed road conditions in the city, promising efforts to improve deplorable roads. Medical Directors, including Prof. John Chikezie and Dr. Patrick Okolo, appreciated the government’s prompt response and confirmed the stable condition of the victims, expressing optimism about their swift recovery.
Hospitals visited included New Era Hospital, Impact Hospital, NISSI Hospital, Blessed Haven Hospital, GMP, Seventh Day Adventist Hospital, and ABSUTH. The details of the 11 accident victims were meticulously documented for ongoing government support.
