Abia Government Mandates TSA Clearance For Payments To MDAs And Institutions

Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs and government-owned institutions in Abia State are to present their Treasury Single Account (TSA) clearance papers to qualify for payment of any type of voucher.

This disclosure was made by the Accountant General of the state, Njum Onyemenam during a workshop her office organized in conjunction with the Abia State Board of Internal Revenue, at Michael Okpara auditorium, Umuahia.

She advised heads of accounts of the MDAs and government-owned institutions to key into TSA and the consolidated revenue collection system which was launched in July, 2023 by Governor Alex Otti.

The Abia Accountant General, who said that the TSA was designed to bring all government revenues into one account for transparency, said that by keying into the system, the concerned MDAs and institutions would have access into the central system for the funding of their expenditure.

Contributing, the Chairman of Abia Board of Internal Revenue, Professor Udochukwu Ogbonna, said every payment into the Abia State government account must be made through TSA, using bank card, PoS, teller and Mobile App.

Explaining further, a resource person at the workshop, Emma Alozie advised all government employees and other individuals to obtain the Abia State Social Identity Number (ABSSIN) for their transactions and for security reasons.

It would be recalled that members of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Abia State branch, led by Dr Chidi Mbah last week, advised the state government to jettison the idea of using TSA in the institution, alleging that it was against their welfare.
