The Abia State Government has announced its commitment to enhancing the monitoring and evaluation unit for more effective oversight of ongoing projects in the state, under the leadership of Governor Alex C. Otti.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu, emphasized the importance of strengthening this unit to ensure seamless project execution and optimal resource utilization. Kanu highlighted the government’s dedication to responsible governance, ensuring funds are judiciously spent for the benefit of Abians. He also shared that Governor Alex Otti’s administration is undertaking 27 road projects, emphasizing the focus on massive road infrastructure development as a key economic driver.
Addressing the upcoming free medical mission by the Association of Nigerian Physicians in America (ANPA), Prince Kanu revealed that over 2,500 patients have registered, with an expected total of over 5,000 beneficiaries in April. Additionally, he addressed concerns about recent skirmishes at Abia State University Uturu, assuring that remedial actions have been taken to restore peace, and investigations are underway. Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, clarified that the government is yet to establish all details surrounding the incident, promising updates once investigations are concluded.
The briefing also included the presence of Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Chinedu Ekeke, and Special Adviser on Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr. Ugochukwu Okoroafor.
