2027: ADC Holds Congress, Elects Agu, Others as New Executives

African Democratic Congress (ADC) has concluded its Abia State congress in Umuahia with the emergence of Barr. Kalu Kalu Agu as the new state chairman, in a leadership exercise aimed at strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Agu emerged through a voice vote alongside other newly elected executive members and pledged to foster unity within the party, stressing reconciliation as a key priority.

“A house divided against itself cannot stand. We will bring every aggrieved member back to our fold,” he said, assuring members of renewed cohesion and stronger internal structures.

The congress committee chairman, Fredrick Onwe, described the exercise as peaceful and conducted in line with party guidelines, expressing confidence in the party’s growing stability in Abia State.

Also speaking, the state Publicity Secretary, Francess Ogbonnaya, said the party was already working toward presenting credible candidates for the 2027 elections, including the governorship and other elective positions.

The newly constituted state executive includes Obinna Okey as Deputy Chairman; Mrs. Uwaoma Olenwa Ngwa as Secretary; Henry Nduaka as Deputy Secretary; Nwogu Nna Nwogu as Treasurer; Pastor John Ukeh as Deputy Treasurer; Ndubuka Roland Ugochukwu as Financial Secretary; Moses Enyioko as Deputy Financial Secretary; Engr. Solomon Alozie as Organizing Secretary; Simon Onyeje as Deputy Organizing Secretary; Barr. Osundu Okoroafor as Auditor; Hon. Ugochukwu Nwaeke as State Coordinator (Electoral Matters & INEC Liaison); Chinweikpe Joseph as Deputy Auditor; Barr. Okechukwu Edede as Legal Adviser; Barr. Azubuike Emenike as Deputy Legal Adviser; Frances Ogbonnaya as Publicity Secretary; Frank Udeagha as Deputy Publicity Secretary; and Odilamma Florence Onuoha as Women Leader.

The party said the new leadership is part of broader efforts to reposition the ADC in Abia State and build momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
