Abia’s Acting Head of Service, Lady Joy Maduka, highlights the current favorable conditions for civil servants under Governor Dr. Alex Otti’s administration. She expressed optimism about the benefits awaiting civil servants, as the Governor is addressing issues like ghost workers and ensuring fair compensation.
Maduka emphasized that the ongoing verification process would lead to just and timely salary payments, promotions, and improved welfare, leaving civil servants content with their service.
Regarding the recent appointment of Permanent Secretaries, she assured that the selections were merit-based, with the Governor personally evaluating candidates without external influence. The appointments were not influenced by tribal or regional factors.
Maduka praised the inclusion of candidates based on their expertise rather than political lobbying, noting that the appointment of an Edo native as a Permanent Secretary was a notable departure from tradition.
She urged civil servants to support Governor Alex Otti’s reform agenda, warning that failing to align with his plans could prove challenging for them.
