SEE THE MAIN REASON THEY WANTED TO IMPEACH THE RIVERS STATE GOVERNOR, SIM FUBARA

NYESOM WIKE AND SIM FUBARA

President Bola Tinubu has taken a significant step to address the political and security crisis in Rivers State. In a meeting held at the Aso Villa in Abuja on Tuesday, he engaged with key figures in the state’s politics, including the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who now serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

The meeting was confirmed by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, following the Nigeria Police Council meeting held at the Aso Villa. President Tinubu’s intervention comes in response to the unfolding political and security situation in Rivers State.

Notably, both Governor Fubara and Minister Wike are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The meeting occurred in the wake of impeachment proceedings initiated against Governor Fubara by the Rivers State House of Assembly. The allegations against him pertain to acts of gross misconduct unbecoming of his office.

The situation in the State House of Assembly escalated on Monday, with a section of the Assembly Complex catching fire on Sunday night. This was followed by dramatic scenes on Monday morning, including the removal of principal officers in the Assembly and the sound of gunshots in the vicinity.

Governor Fubara visited the Assembly Complex on Monday and claimed that he was shot at by the police. However, the police are currently investigating these allegations.

The meeting between President Tinubu and the key political figures from Rivers State aims to address the crisis and find a resolution to the ongoing tensions.
