A member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Daniel Bwala, has called on Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, to utilize his executive authority to address the ongoing conflict with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nyesom Wike.
Bwala emphasized the importance of upholding democratic principles and avoiding authoritarianism in the nation. In response to the crisis between Wike and the governor, he stated, “Governor Sim Fubara should exert the full extent of his executive powers to resolve the situation with Wike. Our democracy must uphold its values. Governor Fubara is the elected leader and chief security officer of Rivers State, and caution is advised when dealing with Wike, to prevent any negative impact on the state’s reputation both locally and internationally.”
Furthermore, Bwala urged President Bola Tinubu to exercise caution when dealing with Wike to safeguard his government’s image. Recent developments, including disruptions in the state House of Assembly and an explosion at the assembly complex, have raised concerns about potential attempts to remove the governor. The governor has also accused state security operatives of firing shots at him.
