Abia State Governor Otti Launches a 19.4KM Okai – Akaeze Rural Road Construction, Unveiling a Gateway to Economic Growth

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, initiates the commencement of the rural road construction from Okai Item to Akaeze, emphasizing the significance of fostering food sufficiency and economic development in the region.
Addressing the audience through his Deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Lekwachi Emetu, FNSE, Governor Otti underscores the strategic importance of the 19.4km road, connecting Abia State with Ebonyi State, and serving as a crucial route for travelers from the Federal Capital Territory via Enugu State.
Highlighting the urgent need to improve rural infrastructure, the Governor emphasizes the role of accessible roads in facilitating the transportation of agricultural produce, promoting business relationships within and across states, and enhancing the ease of doing business.
Governor Otti urges the local community to support the road construction efforts and expresses gratitude for their unwavering support to the administration. He reassures the commitment to peacefully resolving the boundary issues between Okai Item and Akaeze, deploying military presence in disputed areas to maintain peace.
In their addresses, local leaders, including HRM Eze Jerry Akpala Igwe, HRH Eze James Ogbonnaya, and Mazi Ogechukwu Samuel Ogba, express gratitude to Governor Otti for addressing the needs of Item people through the construction of the Okai – Akaeze road. The event witnesses the presence of government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and prominent figures from Bende and Ohafia Local Government Areas.
