ABIA POWER: Geometric Power Group Commends Governor Otti’s Support, Briefs Journalists on Project Commissioning

Professor Bartholomew Nnaji, Chairman of Geometric Power Group, extends gratitude to Governor Alex Otti of Abia State for his steadfast commitment and support towards the Aba Power Generation Project. He assures residents and industries within the Aba Metropolis of uninterrupted electricity.

Addressing journalists at the Geometric Power Headquarters in Aba on February 23, 2024, Professor Nnaji expresses enthusiasm about the upcoming commissioning of the Power project, scheduled for February 26, 2024, to be presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This long-anticipated project, in the works for over two decades, initiated with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Federal Government in 2004, followed by an agreement in 2005 and eventual licensing in 2006.

Geometric Power, Nigeria’s first private power company, aims to provide consistent electricity for businesses, industries, and residents in the Aba Metropolis, encompassing approximately seven local government areas in Abia State.

Professor Nnaji emphasizes that the availability of electricity will enhance the competitiveness of Made in Nigeria products against foreign counterparts, as electricity is a crucial component in manufacturing.

In response, Abia State Commissioner for Power & Public Utilities, Engineer Ikechukwu Monday, highlights the significant losses the state has incurred due to the lack of electricity. He expresses satisfaction that the power project is set to commence, revealing that Governor Alex Otti’s manifesto prioritizes collaboration with the private sector to address the electricity challenge.

He anticipates that this partnership with Geometric Power will attract more private sectors to invest in Abia State.
