Abia State Governor Otti Signs N567.2 Billion 2024 Budget, Pledges Strategic Capital Expenditure for Transformation

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has officially endorsed the 2024 Appropriation Bill of N567.2 billion, recently approved by the State House of Assembly.
Governor Otti, expressing confidence in the budget, emphasized its transformative impact, asserting, “This budget marks the beginning of Abia’s journey from underdevelopment to progress. Every borrowed amount will be strategically allocated to capital projects, fostering economic growth.”
Highlighting the deliberate allocation of 84% to capital expenditure and 16% to recurrent, Otti conveyed the government’s commitment to infrastructure development. He stated, “No mistake was made in dedicating 84% to capital projects; every borrowed kobo will contribute to enhancing our infrastructure. This budget sets the stage for increased investment, business growth, state security, and overall development.”
Commending the State House of Assembly for their prompt approval, Governor Otti expressed optimism about the positive impact on Abia’s future. The Speaker, Rt Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the budget’s potential to improve the lives of Abia residents.
Deputy Speaker Rt Hon Austin Nmeregini assured that the budget would bring significant changes, pledging the House’s commitment to overseeing its effective implementation. The Chairman of the House Committee on Budget and Planning, Hon. Mathias Umeh, emphasized their dedication to monitoring the budget through rigorous oversight.
The signing ceremony, attended by Members of the State House of Assembly, Commissioners, Special Advisers, and the Accountant General of the State, marks a crucial step towards realizing Abia’s developmental goals.
