Abia State Government Dismisses Claims of Excessive Charges for Traders at Ariaria Market

Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Special Adviser to Governor Otti on Media and Publicity, has refuted a report alleging that traders were compelled to pay more than N18,000 as revenue in Ariaria market.

Ekeoma clarified that the information was entirely inaccurate, asserting that individuals who had already paid were issued receipts for the specified amount of N18,000 and nothing beyond that.

Addressing the closure of some shops in Ariaria market, he emphasized that these closures occurred due to shop owners failing to remit the prescribed N18,000 fee, not because they refused to pay more than the official amount. Ekeoma insisted that the official price remains fixed at N18,000.
